Custom Fit: Designed to fit perfectly with our Full Size Propagator Lids (sold separately) to create the ideal environment for seed germination.
Available In Packs of 6, 10, or 20
Fill the Tray: Fill your seed tray with a high-quality seed-starting mix (we recommend our Coco Coir Compost Mix) for optimal growth. Moisten the soil lightly to ensure it’s damp but not soaked.
Plant the Seeds: Using your finger, a pencil, or a seed dibber, create small holes in the soil. Drop your seeds in according to spacing instructions for your specific plant variety. Cover them lightly with more soil.
Slot into the Gravel Tray: Place the seed tray into the provided gravel tray. This prevents water spills, making it ideal for indoor gardening or windowsill gardening without mess.
Water Gently: Use a watering can with a rose to water your seeds gently, ensuring the water doesn’t wash away your seeds. Empty any excess water from the gravel tray after watering to avoid water logging.
Create the Perfect Environment: If starting seeds during cooler months, place a piece of cling film over the tray to create a mini greenhouse effect or use one of our Full Size propagator lids (sold separately).
Provide Light: Position your tray on a sunny windowsill, in a greenhouse, or under grow lights to provide adequate light for germination. Within a week or so, your seeds should start sprouting.
Thinning & Transplanting: Once seedlings reach 3–4 inches, thin out weaker plants, and transplant the healthiest ones into larger pots, raised beds, or directly into the garden.
End of Season Care: Clean your trays with warm, soapy water, dry thoroughly, and store out of direct sunlight to ensure they last for many seasons to come.
Q. How long do these seed trays last?
A. With proper care and careful handling these seed trays can last for many growing seasons. I have trays in my garden which have lasted over 10 years and are still going strong. Just make sure to store out of direct sunlight when not in use, and wash with a little warm soapy water after each growing season.
Q. What comes in the package?
A. In your box you will receive the amount of seed trays you have ordered, as well as a gravel tray which is designed to slot underneath each seed tray, to catch spills and drips which allows the seed trays to be used inside, mess free. Just make sure to empty any water that accumulates in the bottom, a few hours after watering to avoid water logging.
Q. How do I transplant my seedlings from these trays?
A. The best way to ensure a easy transplant each and every time using our seed trays is to first make sure your seedling is ready to be transplanted. It should be at least 3 or 4 inches tall and has a set of true leaves. Then using a spoon or a fork gently poke this under the roots and slowly lift, the entire root ball should pop out and can be transplanted on.
Q. Can I use these seed trays indoors?
A. Absolutely, I designed these to be perfect for indoor use, and is why we provide the gravel tray, which catches any drips, spills and mess. Just make sure you are starting your seeds in a sunny spot, ideally a south facing windowsill or under grow lights to prevent your seedlings becoming leggy (tall and spindly)
